More Lilies, Less Eye-Plucking

Graduation I
Imagine Messiah gives the Sermon on the Mount, "blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God". Afterwards, people come up to Him, shake hands, but others talk. What did you think of that Sermon on the Mount? Well, I liked the part about the lilies of the field, but that part about if you lust, you are committing adultery, I do not agree with that! That part about plucking out your eyes, he could have been more positive. If he starts doing the eye-plucking thing every week, we are not going to have a congregation. If someone came in and preached exactly what Messiah preached, we would have problems with it. We act the same with the Word. We may not say it like that, we just ignore it or rationalize it. He really did not mean that. A true disciple will take what He says seriously. Do not rationalize it or argue with it. Just do it. Read the word of the Lord today as if it were the first time. The Lord did not come into this world, to give us nice sermons. He came to change your life.
Today's Mission
Take to heart the Living Word at full strength, let the Lord's teachings change you today and do not depart from the Word.
2 Timothy 3:16
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
But don’t let it faze you. Stick with what you learned and believed, sure of the integrity of your teachers—why, you took in the sacred Scriptures with your mother’s milk! There’s nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.
Have a blessed day and weekend.
The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prevents the government from making laws that regulate an establishment of religion, or that prohibit the free exercise of religion, or abridge the freedom of speech, the freedom of the press, the freedom of assembly, or the right to petition the government for redress of grievances. It was adopted on December 15, 1791, as one of the ten amendments that constitute the Bill of Rights.
