The Temptation of Messiah
Sometimes you think you're doing well in the Lord when all of a sudden, you stumble on some sin you thought was long gone and feel disgusted with yourself. But instead of letting it be a great step backwards in the Lord, you can turn it into a great leap forward. The way a lake cleanses itself is by bringing all the impurities to the surface. It would look like a perfectly clean lake suddenly becoming polluted, but really it's the opposite. The polluted lake is purifying itself by bringing all the garbage to the surface. On the surface, it's easy to look holy, but deep down in your heart there's pride or self-centeredness, and so on. Thus, God will sometimes allow the deep down junk to come to the surface, because as long as it's hidden, you won't deal with it. So when that sin suddenly pops up, don't get discouraged. If that's what it takes for you to deal with it, you're going to be cleansed. Deal with your junk today. Let God cleanse you of the garbage and it'll be one giant step forward against pollution.
