Nothing To Lose
At the end of the Civil War, the Southern Confederate general, Robert E. Lee, was being pursued by the Union general, Ulysses S. Grant. Lee told his associate he could not surrender his country, meaning the Confederacy. The associate replied, "There is no country, sir. There has been no country for the last two years." In other words, the Confederacy was, for all intents and purposes, non-existent. If Lee had only realized that it didn't exist, he wouldn't have wasted so much effort fighting a fruitless battle. If Lee had only realized he had nothing to war about and nothing to lose, there would have been peace much sooner, and Lee would have been a much happier man. It's the same with us. So many of the battles, conflicts, anxieties, fears, and problems happen because we still think we have something to lose. But in Messiah, our old life is over. So don't be like Robert E. Lee, fighting, striving, and worrying about something that no longer exists. Your old life is over. That country no longer exists. Now live free and blessed!
Today's Mission
Today, don't keep worrying about something that no longer exists. Unchain yourself from the past. Be free in the Lord and be blessed.

But that’s no life for you. You learned Christ! My assumption is that you have paid careful attention to him, been well instructed in the truth precisely as we have it in Jesus. Since, then, we do not have the excuse of ignorance, everything—and I do mean everything—connected with that old way of life has to go. It’s rotten through and through. Get rid of it! And then take on an entirely new way of life—a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you.
